BP readies static kill; shares up 33% in July

BP PLC is moving ahead with plans to plug up the blown-out Macondo well drilled by the stricken Deepwater Horizon rig, with a so-called static kill operation expected to start by Monday or Tuesday.

Chevron - Tahiti Flowlines - Gulf of Mexico

CTI has provided personnel to be part of Chevron's Tahiti Project Subsea Installation Team. These personnel provide project engineering support, technical expertise, and inspection services in deepwater pipeline and SCR construction and installation of subsea facilities including manifolds, umbilicals and jumpers. CTI personnel are currently involved and assisting the Chevron Team in performing the following tasks as they relate to the Subsea Installation activities:

  • Interfacing with the Tahiti FEED contractor with respect to constructability of design.
  • Developing detailed cost estimates and project execution plans to be utilized for project sanction.
  • Assisting the development of tender documents for the procurement of key project materials.
  • Developing the tender documents for the onshore fabrication and offshore construction of the Tahiti Project Subsea Installation scope of work.
  • Evaluating various types of steel catenary riser (SCR) pull-in and hang-off systems

Following project sanction, CTI staff will continue as members of the Chevron Tahiti Subsea Installation Team during execution of the subsea installation work scope, including pre-mobilization fabrication activities, pre-mobilization project engineering and planning activities, and ultimately offshore construction management and support.

Export Pipelines

The 24” Independence Trail Export Pipeline is an 134-mile pipeline initiating with a 20” SCR at the new Independence Hub floating facility located in MC 920 in approximately 7,900 fsw and terminating at a new fixed platform in WD 68 in approximately 115 fsw.
